You are invited to the SCCJR Third Annual Lecture which this year will be delivered by Professor Sonja Snacken on the topic of "Resisting Punitiveness".
The lecture will be held at the Playfair Library at the University of Edinburgh on Monday 1st June, with refreshments from 5.30pm. Following the lecture you are invited to join us for a buffet and drinks – further information below.

Biog: Sonja Snacken is professor of criminology, penology and sociology of law at the Free University of Brussels (VUB) and a former President of the European Society of Criminology. Her main research interests are in penal policy, especially incarceration. Her most recent major publication is Principles of European Prison Law and Policy: Penology and Human Rights (with Dirk van Zyl Smit, Oxford University Press 2009).
