International Perspectives on Parole’s Present and Possible Futures

Speaker: Professor Harry Annison, University of Southampton

In this talk we summarise some of the key insights from the edited collection ‘Parole Futures’: examining influential critiques of parole, and widespread crises of conditional prison release, which pose a foundational challenge to systems of parole. We then sketch out ways in which parole may be reimagined, surveying recent interventions that have presented possible future visions.

We close by saying a little more about the intentions of the collection: to foster a perspective which is international, interdisciplinary, multi-stakeholder and normative.
