“Between penal minimalism and punitive authoritarianism: Brazilian imprisonment policies and the dynamics of subnational variation”.
David S Fonseca is a senior lecturer at the Universidade Federal do Sul da Bahia (UFSB) in Brazil, where he coordinates the Observation Center for the Criminal Justice System. He holds a PhD in Sociology from New York University (NYU) and his research focuses on developments in punishment and crime control in Brazil and Latin America.
This is the third event in ‘The Social Analysis of Penality Across Boundaries – Workshop Series’ which has been coordinated by Prof. Richard Sparks (SCCJR), University of Edinburgh and Prof. Máximo Sozzo (UNL).
