This project, which was conducted in 2009, was sponsored by the Scottish government and involved reviewing literature to develop a comprehensive risk assessment approach for intimate partner offenders which would be open to dynamic change, thus capable of reflecting the impact of treatment groups and other interventions within the criminal justice system. This was undertaken by Prof. E. Gilchrist and the resulting assessment is being used across Scotland to inform both individual assessment and, in a simplified version to assess change in offenders undertaking ‘the Caledonian’ system addressing needs of IPV perpetrators.
