This project is being undertaken for a special issue of the European Journal of Probation. An analytical framework has been adopted to describe the development, implementation and evolution of unpaid work by offenders in each country and to identify contemporary issues and challenges. A further comparative paper is focusing on identifying similarities and differences across jurisdictions, and how these reflect wider penalogical and political concerns. This work is being conducted with Kristel Beyens, Ester Blay and Miranda Boone.
