Working title of PhD: Peer learning in prison: what kind of equity is possible?
Institution: University of Stirling
Full or part-time: Part-time
Year commenced: 2024
PhD Supervisors: Hannah Graham and Sarah Galloway
Funding source: Self-funded
Synopsis:
My current project wishes to further discussions on the pedagogical potentials of and obstacles to peer learning initiatives in prison education.
One of the main goals is to analyse not only how peer learning has been described and promoted in prison education policies in Scotland, but also how it has been delivered and perceived by different actors engaged in or excluded from prison education. Using qualitative mixed methods and foregrounding lived experience expertise, I hope to promote a more informed reflection on how prison education is designed and the impact it has on learners.
