Sergio Grossi is Assistant Professor of Criminology at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, City University of New York (CUNY), and Associate Researcher at the Sorbonne Institute of Legal and Philosophical Sciences (Paris 1).

His research examines punishment, prison education, reintegration, community sanctions, and alternatives to incarceration through comparative research across the Global North and Global South. He has conducted research in several countries, including Brazil, Italy, France, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the United States. His work explores how educational and reentry practices can reduce social exclusion while critically interrogating the ways in which penal reform may reproduce carceral logics.

Sergio is Ambassador for the European Prison Education Association, Co-Chair of the European Society of Criminology Working Group on Community Sanctions and Measures, Editor of the Journal of Prison Education Research, and a member of Border Criminologies at the University of Oxford.
