Synopsis of PhD
This project aims to understand what types of complications police face when communicating with Chinese people and which strategies they adopt to overcome these difficulties. Therefore, this project has the dual purpose of highlighting (1) the problems police encounter and (2) the best practices used by professionals in the field. Obviously, we are talking about a context in which the Chinese community is a minority group, like in Great Britain.
To achieve this purpose it is useful to answer two main questions:
What are the difficulties police encounter in obtaining the cooperation of Chinese?
What strategies do professionals adopt to overcome those difficulties?
Data will be collected through semi-structured interviews with professionals that have direct experience in working with Chinese communities.
