Our visiting Commonwealth Scholar, Sharjil Kharal of the Police Service of Pakistan,will present a seminar next week at the University of Glasgow on ‘Forensic challenges to law enforcement in Pakistan’.
Sharjil will give a short presentation on the following topics, after which there will be an opportunity for discusson:
- Current law and order/political situation in Pakistan and the response of the state actors (police, paramilitary, border forces and the military)
- History of forensics in Pakistan; current structures and legislation in the area (relevant laws, status of crime labs, capacity of the law enforcement with regards to crime scene investigation and court room trials etc)
- The way forward, including amendments in legislation, restructuring the old structures, developing new ones
The seminar will take place on Thursday, September 10 2015 from 2pm to 3pm at Florentine House Meeting Room (see point E4 on campus map: http://www.gla.ac.uk/media/media_1887_en.pdf). All welcome.
