Fangi Li, a PhD student based at the University of Edinburgh, successfully applied to the SCCJR International Mobility Fund which helped her secure travel to our international partner institution, KU Leuven in Belgium.
Fangi offered the following reflections from her trip.
‘From March to May 2025, I had the opportunity to undertake a research visit to KU Leuven through the LERU exchange programme, supported by the International Mobility Fund of the SCCJR. Hosted by the Institute of Criminology, I worked under the supervision of Professor Stephan Parmentier and joined the Research Line on Human Rights and Transitional Justice, engaging with a vibrant network of scholars working across a range of transitional justice contexts.
During my eight-week stay, I participated in a variety of seminars and research events, shared and discussed my work with colleagues, and delivered a two-hour seminar on transitional justice in Cambodia at the Faculty of Law and Criminology.
These exchanges offered invaluable feedback and broadened my understanding of transitional justice by exposing me to diverse conceptual approaches and case studies beyond my own research. I am especially grateful for the warm welcome, stimulating conversations, and generous support I received throughout the visit, which enriched my ongoing doctoral research and enabled me to build lasting connections with scholars in the field.’
