scottish-prison-servicesMembers of the SCCJR are this week taking part in an international symposium organised by the Scottish Prison Service.

‘From Vision to Reality – Transforming Scotland’s Care of Women in Custody’ is taking place in Edinburgh from May 27 to 29.

Speakers at the event will include SCCJR co-directors Professor Gill McIvor (University of Stirling) and Professor Richard Sparks (University of Edinburgh), as well as Justice Secretary Michael Matheson, HM Chief Inspector of Prisons David Strang, and Scottish Prison Service Chief Executive Colin McConnell.

The symposium follows the high-profile decision to scrap plans for a new women’s prison at Inverclyde.
