The Scottish Association for the Study of Offending (SASO), in conjunction with SCCJR, awards an annual essay prize open to students of criminology and/or criminal justice. This year’s contest is open to Honours undergradute students at any Scottish university, with entries to be submitted by teaching staff.
The £250 prize will be awarded at the SASO Conference to be held at The Westerwood Hotel & Golf Resort, Cumbernauld on November 4 and 5, to which the prize winner will be invited as a guest. The winning essay will also be published in the Scottish Journal for Criminal Justice Studies.
There is no application form, but submissions of up to 4,000 words, clearly marked SASO Student Essay Prize, should be submitted by teaching staff via e-mail to enquiries@www.sccjr.ac.uk. Entries should include the student’s name, contact details and current course of study. The closing date for submissions is Wednesday October 5th and the adjudicators will decide the winner in early October.
It would be much obliged if you would circulate details of the competition to colleagues working in criminology in Scotland.
