The postholder will be involved in the interviewing of a cohort of ex-probationers. This includes arranging, undertaking and assisting in the analysis of the interviews, arranging transcriptions, coding and entering data, and assisting in the writing up of the project.

Applicants should have a background in criminology, criminal justice, psychology or the social sciences, with research experience and, preferably, both qualitative and quantitative skills. An honours degree and postgraduate qualification (or equivalent experience) in the social sciences is essential.

Extensive travel within the UK and occasional weekend working is expected as part of this post, which is tenable from 1 January 2010 until 31 March 2012.
