We are delighted to announce that the Centre for Human Rights and Policy Studies (CHRIPS) in Kenya has joined SCCJR as our new international partner.
CHRIPS is our ninth partner to join since we established a specific strategy in 2018 to focus on international engagement and mobility, in recognition of the increasingly global, mobile, and transnational nature of harms and crimes.
SCCJR has formalised partnerships with internationally renowned criminological research centres and departments including the Universities of Toronto, Oslo, Hong Kong, Leuven and the Queensland University of Technology, Tashkent State University of Law, Universidad Nacional del Litoral, Argentina and the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia.
Patrick Mutahi, Research Fellow at CHRIPS, said: “The Centre for Human Rights and Policy Studies (CHRIPS) in Kenya is glad of the partnership with SCCJR. This collaboration is rooted in our shared commitment to advancing evidence-based policy and research on issues of justice, policing, and human rights.
“Together, we plan to engage in joint research projects, knowledge exchange, and policy dialogue to strengthen links between academic research and policy work. We hope this partnership will contribute to deepening perspectives on promoting inclusive, rights-based approaches to crime and security.”
Through international engagement the Scottish Centre for Crime and Justice Research (SCCJR) seeks to build links with scholars and organisations around the world who are best placed to collaborate on issues of global reach and to facilitate the Centre contributing to a critical, global understanding of crime, harm, and justice.
We also have an international mobility fund which aims to promote inward and outward mobility between all institutions.
