Vox Liminis wee cropBBC Scotland presenter Ricky Ross welcomed the SCCJR’s Fergus McNeill and Alison Urie of Vox Liminis into the Sunday Morning With… studio in January to talk about Distant Voices, their collaborative project involving music-making in prisons.

Fergus spoke about how the songwriting workshops encourage prisoners to open up about feelings that are often repressed in a prison setting.

Alison added “A lot of prisoners have spoken about being able to communicate something that they’ve not said before”.

Reporter Monica Brown went along to a workshop at Castle Huntly prison run by facilitator Kim Long and musician Ross Clark of the Glasgow band Three Blind Wolves.

The feature also included also includes interviews with prisoners and Louis Abbot performing Breathe Life, a clip of which is available via the Vox Liminis Soundcloud.
