SRA Scotland is pleased to host a seminar by David Miller – Professor of Sociology at Strathclyde University. In this seminar, Prof. Miller will talk about investigative social research methods and how they have been used to examine the PR and Lobbying industry and its impact on the democratic process.
The attempt by big business interests and others to capture the policy process is obviously at the core of this. However, it is argued that it is also necessary to understand that vested interests continuously attempt to capture and dominate the media, civil society and science. The session will take examples from recent research projects at the Scottish, UK, EU and global levels of governance. The session will also introduce the use of wiki software in compiling research data and reporting on it. SRA Scotland – www.the-sra.org.uk/sra_scotland.htm
