Professor Nancy Lombard will give a public lecture on gender equality and violence against women. The lecture will explore how the promotion of gender equality within our society can help shape and transform our approach to stopping violence against women.

The Professorial Lecture entitled ‘The personal is still political: exploring a career of violence against women research through the intersections of gender, class and age’, will take place from 5.30pm to 7.00pm.

Professor Lombard states “women are disproportionately affected by domestic abuse. These experiences of violence, compounded by a number of factors, impact how women can access (and receive) help and support. Eradicating violence against women requires transformative action and sustained change.”

Nancy, Professor of Sociology and Social Policy, Glasgow Caledonian University, will illustrate how her own research has contributed to the ways in which we understand and frame men’s violence against women.

The lecture will appeal to members of the public, as well those working as policy makers and in third sector organisations.
