Mr Jon Clarke
Jon first worked for the Probation Service in 1978 and has maintained an interest in offender services ever since as a practitioner, manager and educationalist. He has worked as Probation Officer, Senior Social Work Manager and Programme Leader for Social Work Training.
In recent times Jon has been active in Restorative Practice Scotland, where he is currently a member of the Board of Directors. He has also worked with the UHI Restorative Practice Research Group, facilitating and supporting the Perth and Kinross Restorative Justice Evaluation report. In this connection he has also participated in the SCRJR Restorative Justice Research Group, enabling him to play a part in the inception of the Restorative Justice Champions Group based on the CJSWDC.
His current work responsibilities include lecturing on the BA Child and Youth Studies Degree and the BA in Childhood Practice.
Over the last year Jon has been involved in a number of research applications relating to Restorative Justice, in particular to the European Science Foundation (with a range of European partners), to the Leverhulme Trust and to the New Opportunities Fund (Both of the latter with Academic partners in Manitoba and practice partners in Scotland)
He is particularly interested in the use of restorative practices within early-years settings and the longitudinal impact these have on future offending rates and community safety outcomes.
