Dr Josie Williams
Josie has been a research fellow in the Centre for the Study of Violence since 2004. She specialises in qualitative research with an applied emphasis, focusing on antisocial and risk-taking behaviours among vulnerable groups and hard-to-reach populations. Much of her work has concentrated on at-risk adolescents, young adults and female offenders.
Her projects have examined influences and motivations for violence and gang membership among young people in secure accommodation; factors affecting risky sexual behaviour among serious and persistent juvenile offenders and street drinking behaviour among young adults in Scottish settings. More recent work has focused on alcohol and drug use and its perceived links to general and sexual health among female offenders.
