Dr Carla Cesaroni
University of Ontario Institute of Technology
Carla’s research seeks to examine the stress and adjustment of incarcerated individuals. For the last two decades she has studied the experiences of adolescents and young adults in secure detention and serving custodial sentences. She has recently completed a cross national comparison of incarcerated young people (18 – 24) in Scottish versus Canadian prisons involving almost 300 interviews of staff and young people. This initiative was funded by the Canadian government. Carla is currently involved in research on the trauma and masculinities of incarcerated adolescent boys and young men with colleagues Nina Vaswani (University of Strathclyde) and Matthew Maycock (Scottish Prison Service).
