Work & Study with us

Work with Us

SCCJR offers opportunities for active researchers focusing on crime and criminal justice to work with us, primarily via our associate membership and visiting fellowship program. Our current vacancies page highlights specific opportunities at SCCJR.

At SCCJR we work closely with policy and practitioner partners and welcome the opportunity to discuss collaborative projects, please contact us for further details. For details of our work with other policy and practitioner partners please see Our Work with Others.

Study with Us

The individual researchers and partner institutions in SCCJR offer a wide range of criminology courses, sometimes as part of traditional academic programmes and sometimes as standalone CPD (continuous professional development) options for criminal justice practitioners and organisations. Increasingly these courses draw on SCCJR’s global networks and bring together the best of Scottish criminology with new developments in the field elsewhere.

We are always interesting in developing new courses of both sorts to support our goals, so if you have an interest in commissioning or partnering us in such developments, please contact us.

You can find links to a range of courses in the partner institutions on the ‘Study with Us’ page.

Consultancy and Knowledge Exchange

SCCJR staff have been involved in a wide range of consultancy activities, not just in Scotland and the UK, but around the world. We have worked with government departments, police services, prison services and probation services in many jurisdictions, mostly assisting them with developing policies, strategies and practices in the light of emerging research findings and theoretical developments.
