The  research is investigating the policing of rape in a Scottish police force.  It is seeking to understand the process in greater detail and to identify factors that may influence the high attrition and low conviction rate for rape in Scotland as well as to identify areas for improvement and any areas of best practice.  The research is concerned in the most part with the perspective of the police in the investigation of rape and to understand the challenges officers face, but will also seek to elaborate the experience from the victim’s perspective.
