Christine studied law at Edinburgh University , graduating with LLB (Hons) and the Diploma in Legal Practice. Following her legal traineeship she worked as a solicitor, mainly in the area of child law. In 2007 Christine completed the MSc  in Criminology and Criminal Justice at Edinburgh University.

Her PhD research is linked with the project on Criminalization which involves the universities of Glasgow, Stirling and Warwick and aims to develop a normative theory of criminalization. Christine’s research is focused on the issue of the criminalization of youth.  Christine's primary research interests are Criminal Law and the Criminalization of Youth.
