About

Working Title of PhD: Harbouring Global Insecurity:Constructing Transnational Port Security

Summary: This criminological project aims to research, interdisciplinarily, everyday lives of port policing and security personnel who construct security in the transnational spaces of European seaports. Analysing social realms of port security in Greenock, Grangemouth port and Clydeport, Port of Rotterdam and Port of Hamburg will shed light on how workers control and eliminate transnational insecurities at national seaport borders. It will contribute to a critical engagement within the prioritised theorisation of the globalised security society and of security consumerism.
