About PhD Topic: 'Community-based Policing and Minority Access to Justice and Security in Bosnia and Herzegovina'
The purpose of this thesis is to explore the effects community-based policing on minority communities in a post-conflict, transitional society. The primary research question that I aim to address with this project involves determining if the recent 'transplant' of a community-based policing strategy to the Bosnian context has served to to enhance the ability of these excluded populations to participate in local security governance decision-making processes. This research will likely form the basis of a comparative analysis which would serve to enhance our understanding of how community based policing functions under various structural conditions thereby suggesting that its conclusions are likely to be relevant to academics, current policy makers and future policy entrepreneurs alike.
