AboutWorking Title of PhD: Police Attitudes to Youth and Youth Interventions: A Case Study of Inverclyde
Summary: Through the usage of semi-structured interviews this research will examine the attitudes of police officer’s and their experience of policing the Inverclyde Initiative. The Inverclyde Initiative was created by Strathclyde Police: Inverclyde Sub-Division as a multi-agency approach to tackle issues surrounding child protection and youth offending in Inverclyde. During the initiative those young people identified as ‘at risk’ through a police patrol of known hotspot areas are introduced to diversionary activities and given real time counselling with their parents as well as being issued a restorative justice warning at a safety centre.
