I am currently director of the UWS Centre for Criminal Justice and Police Studies, having previously been Head of School of Social Studies at Bell College and director of the Scotish Centre for Police Studies there.  Have been involved in police higher education and research for over 30 years, including running degree programmes for police officers and teaching on courses in criminology, aspects of the criminal justice system, Scottish and comparative policing, and policing strategies and management.  I am also Associate Director (Police Organization) for the Scottish Institute of Policing Research.  Am currently involved in a number of research projects for various police organisations and a three-year SIPR project on Local Policing in Scotland.  My research interests include police organisation and management, police accountability, police education and training, and the Scottish criminal justice system.
