SCCJR researchers help launch Oxford Handbook of Criminology

The 6th edition of the Oxford Handbook of Criminology will be launched at a Criminology Workshop in Edinburgh this month.

SCCJR’s Professor Lesley McAra (University of Edinburgh) is co-author of the new edition along with Alison Liebling (University of Cambridge) and Shadd Maruna (University of Manchester), who will speak at the event on Thursday, May 25.

Professor Michele Burman (University of Glasgow), Professor Susan McVie and Professor Richard Sparks (both University of Edinburgh) are among the other leading criminologists due to take part in two roundtable discussions – the first on Criminological Identities, the second on Critical Policy Engagement.

Also contributing will be David Garland (NYU), Kieran McEvoy (Queen’s Belfast), Yvonne Jewkes (University of Brighton), Colin McConnell (Scottish Prison Service) and Bethany Schmidt (University of Cambridge).

The event, which is free to attend, will take place in the University of Edinburgh’s Dave Hume Tower in George Square from 1pm to 9pm. A light lunch will be provided and the workshop will be followed be will be a drinks reception. Register for a place with Eventbrite.
