Violence, Risk & Public Health
This multi-disciplinary network will focus on the area of violence, while also incorporating issues of risk, drug use and addiction, mental health and human rights in criminal justice. The network will develop theoretical frameworks for the analysis of the causes of interpersonal violence, incorporating analysis of the role of mental health, drug use, and the predictive utility of risk. The network will collaborate with a range of agencies that work with violent offenders in developing a national research programme to monitor and evaluate preventative and rehabilitative interventions designed to reduce levels of interpersonal violence. The overall aim is to contribute to public safety by improving the practice base of agencies working in Scotland.
