CJ-Quest
The CJ-QUEST network aims to improve the quantitative criminological research base in Scotland by expanding expertise and capacity in large-scale survey methodology, quantitative statistical analysis and complex data modelling. A key objective is to expand the use of existing Scottish datasets in relation to crime and criminal justice, such as the Scottish Crime and Justice Survey, for which we are involved in design, methodological development and analysis. This network is also involved in exploring gaps in the evidence base and attempting to establish new sources of data to fill such gaps. We are concerned with enhancing methodological development in the field of criminological survey research and the promotion and facilitation of Scottish datasets as tools for teaching and training.
A major part of our work so far has been in the development of ideas that would comprise a strategy for CJ-QUEST over the next few years, which are set out in our Strategic Plan 2008-09. This document focuses on a number of key areas of priority and acts as a prospective ‘wish-list’ for consultation with Advisory Group members, sponsors and other interested parties, including potential collaborators. The Plan covers five main areas of activity: National level change; Sub-national level ecological-structural analysis; individual level change; methodological development; and capacity building.
The Strategic Plan 2008-09 can be found by clicking on 'network documents' below. We welcome correspondence from anyone wishing to get involved in the work of CJ-QUEST.
