Ben is an LSE Fellow at the Methodology Institute, London School of Economics. His research interests include: public trust and confidence in the police and constructions of police legitimacy; distributions and experiences of police-public encounters;  the impact of personal experience on opinions of the police and other legal authorities;  and cross-national comparisons of trust and legitimacy in these contexts.

Ben also has a long-standing interest in issues of ethnicity, identity and religion.  He has worked with the London Metropolitan Police on a number of research projects, mainly concerned with improving police understanding of public opinions and priorities.  Ben’s research is primarily quantitative in nature, and he is particularly interested in applying new statistical techniques to traditional criminological questions.
